A voice keyboard for iPhone that works in any app

Hovor adds a keyboard to your iPhone that types dictated text into any app. The keyboard needs Full Access, and the Hovor app does the transcription. Your words land in whatever field you are typing in.

What Hovor does on iPhone

Switch to the Hovor keyboard in Messages, Mail, Notes, Slack or any other app, and dictate instead of typing. Your dictionary, snippets and usage stats sync across your devices, and you can translate while you dictate through Hovor Cloud, Apple Translation on iOS 26 or later, or your own OpenAI key (requires BYOK Unlock, the Bundle or Pro). With Local Unlock or Pro you can also record a meeting on iPhones that support on-device Parakeet and get a speaker-labelled transcript stored on your device. Hovor runs on iPhone and iPad.

On-device or cloud

On supported iPhones with 4 GB of RAM or more you can dictate with on-device Parakeet, and with 6 GB or more also with on-device Whisper. You download the model first. Otherwise Hovor dictates through the cloud. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or later), tone formatting can also run on-device through Apple's models.

Plans and pricing

On iPhone you can start on the Free plan, which includes 2,000 words per week shared between cloud and on-device dictation. Pro costs $7.00 per month or $65.00 per year, with no weekly word limit on cloud dictation, translation and sync, and it includes Local and BYOK access. The one-time purchases are Local Unlock ($20.00) for unlimited on-device dictation, replacements, snippets and workflows, and Meetings; BYOK Unlock ($15.00) for your own provider keys; and the Local + BYOK Bundle ($30.00) for both. They do not include cloud dictation, and Family Sharing works for them.

Set up in four steps

1. Install Hovor from the App Store (iOS 18 or later). 2. Open Settings, go to General, Keyboard, Keyboards, and add the Hovor keyboard. 3. Allow Full Access for it. 4. In any app, switch to the Hovor keyboard and start dictating.
